Lavreotiki

Former municipality in the southeast of Attica. Its municipal seat was Lavrio.

Metapolitefsi

Literally “regime change”, the term initially meant the transition from dictatorship to democracy following the fall of the 1967–74 junta but which has come to mean the entire post-dictatorship period.

Ethnikofrosyni

Along with values such as family, religion and tradition, ethnikofrosyni or “national conviction” stood in juxtaposition to ideologies that the state deemed subversive and foreign, such as communism.

National Army

The name used to describe the army of the Greek state during the Greek Civil War, which is often described as a war between the “nationalists” and the “communists”.

National Solidarity

The social welfare organisation set up by National Liberation Front (EAM) during the Second World War and which remained active during the Greek Civil War.
